Thank you for registering and welcome to the new kinship care professionals site. The idea for this site began in June 2016 at Mentor’s National Kinship Care Forum, when many social workers told us that they had benefitted from meeting colleagues from other local authorities and would like to do so again. Since then, we have held several Regional Forums to the same end; but we also wanted to create an online space where kinship care professionals can support each other on a more regular basis.
The aim of this site, then, is to enable closer communication between social workersfrom different local authorities, and to foster mutual support through sharing resources and practice. Through the development of policy and legislation there is now a number of challenges and changes which need to be met, and we hope that this online forum will allow you to identify what is happening on a national level.
Now that you have signed up, you will be able to share your local authority’s policies and practice, training provisions, financial allowances and any relevant toolkits and resources; and view these documents and practice ideas from other local areas. There is also a Q & A element which allows you to link up with each other and get help to any questions you may have or give advice or practical help.
If you haven’t done so already, can we please ask that you check if information from your local authority has been added. If not could you add this in, or else, ask someone who is the main point of contact to do so.
If you require assistance to upload or share information, please contact send any files or links to email@example.com and we will ensure that all documentation will be uploaded and published. If you would like more information on this then please do let us know.
We hope that this site proves useful for you – but for it to work it also depends on you to share your work and practice. Please enjoy looking around and if you have any further ideas to improve or develop the site, then do let us know!
